A band formed by CHU2 (DJ) to create "the greatest band with the greatest music." Each member is an expert in their own right, with LAYER (Ba. & Vo.) and MASKING (Dr.) having professional-level skill and experience performing as backups for other bands. Not only that, their songs are obviously well-written, and they have even been hailed as the new leaders of the age of girl bands. Everything they have done since they debuted always seems to generate general interest. They practice every day at CHU2's penthouse studio, which has a selection of carefully chosen equipment.

RAISE A SUILEN (also abbreviated as RAS) is an all-girl band in the BanG Dream! franchise. The group consists of five members, namely Wakana Rei (LAYER) on vocals and bass, Asahi Rokka (LOCK) on guitar, Satou Masuki (MASKING) on drums, Nyubara Reona (PAREO) on keyboard, and Tamade Chiyu (CHU^2) as DJ.

They were tentatively given the name THE THIRD (仮) (lit. THE THIRD (Beta) before getting their official name which was announced during their second live.

Initially, the group was formed solely as a backup band due to the voice actresses of Afterglow, Pastel*Palettes, and Hello, Happy World! being unable to play their characters' instruments, with the band giving the vocalists a chance to perform. However, they also have their own original songs. It was later revealed after their second live that they officially have become part of the BanG Dream! franchise. Furthermore, it was also announced that they had been given an official band name, RAISE A SUILEN in addition to the newly recruited member, Tsumugi Risa.

  • They are the first band in the series whose members use stage names.
  • Their temporary name, THE THIRD (仮), was in reference to them being the official third band of the BanG Dream! franchise that performs live.
  • During Brave New World, it was revealed that RAISE A SUILEN will be appearing in the anime.
  • Their own manga titled RAiSe! The story of my music started serialization in Monthly Bushiroad February 2019 issue which became available by January 8, 2019. It was illustrated by sea_dragon_s.
  • "Suilen" refers to bamboo screen, as pointed out by CHU^2."Suilen" was later confirmed to be derived from 翠簾(すいれん) (suiren, green bamboo blind) by Ayana Yuniko, the former series compositor of the BanG Dream! anime.
  • Their anime characters' real names were revealed in a pamphlet that was given out during BanG Dream! 7th☆LIVE.
  • RAISE A SUILEN was the only band in which all members wear the same casual clothes regardless of season, until the game's 6th anniversary update.
  • Their anime characters appeared in the 12th and 13th episodes of Cardfight!! Vanguard: Zoku Koukousei-hen.
  • All of RAISE A SUILEN's members go to different schools: Rei attends Geijutsu Academy, Rokka attends Haneoka Girls' School, Masuki attends Shirayuki Private Academy, Reona attends Kamogawa Chuuou Middle School, and Chiyu attends Celosia International Academy.
  • The band mainly performs at the live house dub.
  • Their Clash! Beyond Perfect Gacha was the first to feature three 4☆ cards.
  • They are the first and only band so far to have a stage play.
  • The live band was honored as Special Award for "The 4th Reiwa Anisong Taisho" (令和アニソン大賞).

As of July 17th, 2026, they have their 2 band stories, 21 event stories, 1 stageplay, 25 live performances, x episodes in the Garupa Pico series overall, 1+1 Studio Albums, 7 Live Albums, 1 Compilation Album, 9 Physical Singles and 1 Digital Single

OH YES!! WE'RE HYPED BEYOND BELIEF!!

bandoriing it up

Raise a suilen is my all time favorite music artist from a Gacha game ever full stop, show is over. Truly, it is as simple as that statement to me. Since I started playing in September of 2021 one thing was clear to me; these were the goats. The music, the story, the vibe? My god, I was stunned instantly and obsessed just as fast. With their implementation on English servers being just a few months before my start, I can proudly and annoyingly say I am an OG. When they were calling Chu^2 a bitch for being a bit arrogant and prissy as a teenager I was there, please believe.

The story of RAS was one that stuck with me, enough for me to have actually sat and read it in its entirety when I hadn’t even touched other units introduction chapters yet. I’m due for a reread (as of July 17th lol) but I’ll still stand by it. It’s amazing and YOU should read it too for free on the wiki or by watching it on YouTube and enjoying the lovely voice acting.

By the way, did you know that RAS serves as more than half of its members’ first major seiyuu roles? Being Raychell, Natsume and Riko’s first big roles with Reo and Risa both having big roles before Bandori in Revstar and D4DJ. Additionally, Risa was the only member of the band to not having any experience with her instrument before joining while the other 4 members all had years of professional experience under their belt.

RAS is something extremely cherished by me with my rather terrible grades in Grade 9 likely being the fault of my late nights. Up late tiering with event three stars that did not match the event type because if there’s anything RAS hated it was coming home on my fifty million pulls and rerolls. Ever. I just got my Second four star for the whole band just this June 2026. I didn’t even have a Chu^2 happy card for Trick or Trap. Of any kind. Not even a 2 star. Such is the life of a dedicated fan I guess…

And then later on in my fanlife (Grade 11, 2024) I came to realize that: not only were they amazing in story…they were even better in real life!!! Seriously, the live performances of Bandori were known to me but watching a recording of a live? Literally life changing my goats you have done it yet again. Honestly, please just watch one. There’s one playing to the right as well.

In short, they’re the greatest!
